Legacy Detroiter Reshounn “Sun” Foster is a “Creative Citizen” and “Professional Butterfly” who began participating in resident-led community design projects as a result of creating Hip n Zen Northend, a cultural arts salon, artists residency, and HERmitage (2012). Rooted in Detroit’s historical North End community, HNZN is now translocational and explores “Self in community” while consulting on community engagement, culture keeping, public arts, public interest design, and Self development projects. “Sun” is co-founder of the Oakland Avenue Artists Coalition (2014); storyteller in the North End Storytellers, N.E.S.T., a documentary produced by the Oakland Avenue Urban Farm (2017); storyteller in the “Urban Biographies: Ancient and Modern’’ online exhibit at the University of Michigan’s Kelsey Museum of Archaeology (2018); assistant producer of the indie film With Love from Idlewild, produced by Brugnone Films (2018); and author of “Live Up to Your naME,” a personal essay about Self discovery, appearing in the anthology Destined to Win by Mary Segars (2021).
