Matthew Slaats

Matthew Slaats is an organizer, artist, and educator dedicated to making sure that communities are in control of the decisions that impact their lives. Over the past 15 years, he has paired the arts and design with environmental, food, and community justice initiatives to not only collectively imagine new futures but turn them into reality. He is presently partnering with public housing residents in Charlottesville, VA on an oral history initiative to tell their history and working with a coalition of grassroots leaders to build a solidarity economy in Virginia.
