Bio

Khadijah M Shabazz is a mother, writer, poet, performer, mentor, guide, entrepreneur & colossal, beating heart who sings sermons of freedom to herself and the ones she loves. Her passion lies in the deliverance of the hearts & minds of her people, into awareness, empowerment & a feeling of home. She especially focuses on Detroit, where she is a native. Khadijah has held creative and administrative positions in several nonprofit and arts & culture groups across the city of Detroit, including the TETRA, M.O.O.R.E. Community Council, the Oakland Avenue Artists Coalition, Know Allegiance Nation, Obsidian Blues Detroit, the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion, Mothering Justice, and the Arts Center Music School. Khadijah has a wide range of experience in radical, grassroots community work, shadow work and youth-led social justice work.
